Althoff Eliminates Marquette in the Class 1A Girls Soccer Super-Sectionals

The Marquette Explorers fell to the Belleville Althoff Crusaders, 3-2 - Tuesday night in the Class 1A Girls Soccer Columbia Super-Sectional. 

The Explorers finish the season at 13-7-1 while the Lady Crusaders go to the state finals with a mark of 20-and-2 on the season.  The Explorers got goals from Clare Antrainer & Aela Scruggs.  Althoff's Emma Tell scored twice including the game-winning goal.   

Althoff also beat Marquette, 3-2 at Gordon Moore Park during the regular season (May 13).

The Lady Explorers defeated Roxana, 6-0 last Friday to win a Class 1 Sectional championship.  Emma Anselm had the hat trick - scoring the first 3 goals for Marquette.  She now has 27 goals on the season.  Other Explorer goals in the sectional title match were scored by Jillian Nelson, Kiley Donovan, and Megan Jarzenbeck. The Lady Shells finished the year at 15-3-2.
